True or False: George W. Bush connected 9/11 to Saddam Hussein?

The incompetent, moronic bozo TRIED to. Usually in a relatively indirect manner, suggesting in his usual idiotic
“cloud-and-cuckoo” simpleton terms that “all his enemies were the same”. The pathetic cretin never did make any sense.

No proof of any kind was ever found.

In fact,. Saddam was on Al Quaeda’s hit list, made clear by the BBC studies and all the literature. But that didn’t stop Bush and his fellow traveler crackpot, Cheney, from trying to make their slimy b.s. fly.

Nobody serious ever believed these hopeless morons. Nobody believed their lies about WMD’s either. It was a “promotional” invasion built on fraud and fakery, and it directly interfered with the valid issue in Afghanistan.

It is true the Bush linked Saddam to 9-11 out of context and was later forced to admit it. It was Dick Cheney who said later “ I do not believe and have never seen any evidence to confirm Hussein was involved in 9-11. We had that reporting for awhile, but it eventually turned out to be untrue”. Since then numerous of the Bush Administration have admitted they got it wrong the only debate left to have is why they got so many things wrong about one of the most significant decisions of the generations. In all their glory the Bush administration made allegations implying alliances that have since been disproved.

When questioned on the matter downplayed the failures of his administration to get the intelligence right but argued it was still a good idea of bring about a regime change in Iraq. This was the official repackaging of our reasons for being other their from an imminent threat to winning hearts for democracy. In 2005 Bush admitted “ It is true that much of the intelligence to go into Iraq war wrong”, he accepted responsibility for those mistakes but then in a switch of hand created a new and acceptable reason for troops to continue on until they were free and Iraq democratic.

Many having since left the administration have admitted the mistake of this connection and many other allegations made against Saddam as reason for the initial invasion and eventual regime change.

The used the allegation of immanent threat based on Saddam and his now disproved nuclear program. They then linked Saddam with 9-11 as proof he could reach the United States and therefore won sentiment for the invasion. It was rooted in old and erroneous intelligence both points now disproved despite administration assurances given at the time to their being irrefutable fact.

In an indirect way only. He said he wanted to prevent a future 9/11. He never claimed that Saddam had anything to do with the actual 9/11. The liberals, as usual, are trying to rewrite history again by saying he invaded Iraq because of 9/11, but I remember those events and the reasons for them. U.N. resolution 1441 defines the reasons for the Iraq invasion.

“My dad said George H.W. Bush created Saddam by hiring him as like a CIA, something like that.” False. Saddam rose to power in the 60s (Saddam played a key role in the 1968 coup that brought his party to long-term power). NO ONE hired him to be a CIA agent. “He also says that they gave osama bin laden guns and all that before he was a terrorist.” False. Osama was a financeer and organizer, not a foot soldier. We didnt give him any guns or money. Plus we funneled our money to the Afghanistan freedom fighters through Pakistani intelligence. Osama got his funding from Saudi Arabia

Cheney said in an interview “Saddam supports terrorists. Terrorists like the one who attacked us on 9/11.”

Ever since then the left has said “Cheney said Saddam was behind 9/11.”

Leave it to the left to either get something wrong, or twist it on purpose.

I challenge anyone to post a link to a news story or interview where Bush or Cheney says “Saddam was behind 9/11.”

this is one of his quotes:

“It is true, as I have said many times, that Saddam Hussein was not connected to the 9/11 attacks…”

however, these are some more of his quotes:

“We know that Iraq and the Al Qaida terrorist network share a common enemy: the United States of America. We know that Iraq and Al Qaida have had high-level contacts that go back a decade.”

“The use of armed forces against Iraq is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.”

and here is one of cheneys quotes:

“If we’re successful in Iraq … we will have struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if you will, the geographic base of the terrorists who have had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 9/11.”

so he implied it, whether intentionally or not. however, he did later say that they weren’t connected.

True, to a point. he connected Saddam to 9/11 with lies. There was no connection between the two

Once I found out that under saddaam’s regine there were only 180 graves which had over 300,000 corps.

Sorry saddamm was the WMD.

As far as fiscal…Bush let us down. Now move on.

True. (Which wasn’t true about Saddam). He also contradicted himself on Bin Laden. First he said that catching Bin Laden was the most important thing. Then he said that he didn’t care about him or catching him. What a big liar that guy was.

FALSE: The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush never connected the two events.
